System Requirements

Simple XML Shopping Cart - Offsite PayPal Payment Solution

The shopping cart has several specific system requirements to properly operate:

System Requirement Description
ASP.NET & IIS 7.0 Your web site must be hosted using Microsoft's Internet Information Services Web Server. We recommend using IIS 7.0 and above with the ASP.NET 2.0 - 4.0 programming environment. Please consult with your ISP (Internet Hosting Provider) for compatibility. If you currently use another platform for hosting your site, a partner site can be set up and integrated with your existing web site.
Online Catalog and Price File Editor UIT XML Shopping Cart has its own online catalog and price editor. All administration tasks occur behind a secure login.
Paypal Business Account You must have an account with PayPal to integrate with the XML Shopping Cart software. You can set up your account at Create a PayPal Business Account. No money is required to set up this account. You must have a valid bank account and a valid email account. PayPal will test your bank account by depositing $1.00 or less into your account. You respond by clicking a link sent to you via the email you provided in the account setup. Once confirmed, you are ready. The email account you provided to PayPal is the email address used to link your shopping cart to your account with PayPal.
Bank Account Personal or Business Banking Account with an official bank.

Integrated Product Shopping Cart - Onsite Payment Solution

This solution requires all of the above plus:

System Requirement Description
Merchant Account Your bank can set up a merchant banking account for you. It requires a credit check and a setup fee, generally between $150 - $250.00. Upon setup, you decide which types of credit cards you will accept on your site and negotiate fees based on your transaction levels per month. Once the account is setup, your bank will provide you with two numbers: a merchant account number and a terminal number. A terminal number is similar to the bank routing number you find on checks, it identifies the bank holding the account. This information is used by the Payment Gateway Software.
Payment Gateway Software Your bank will almost certainly work closely with the payment gateway providers. These companies provide the software used by web developers to integrate your online shopping cart with the banking system. Generally, they charge approx. $30 - $50.00 per month for their software. Along with the credit card companies, they also charge by the transaction, although the amount is miniscule compared to the credit card company fees.

Here is a document listing the current payment gateway providers offered by Visa. Visa Validated Service Providers This list is exhaustive and should be used as a reference to make sure the payment gateway provider you choose is compliant with industry security standards. Your bank will have a short list of companies they recommend.
